Abstract:
Meteorological disasters in China are analysed. The results show that China is one of the few countries in the world that register heavy and grave losses caused by meteorological disasters, or 3 to 6% of the gross domestic product (GDP). Meteorological disasters including typhoon, torrential rain and flood bring about a grave impact on the socio-economic and sustainable development in varying degrees. This paper introduces the organisation of disaster control, reduction and meteorological disaster monitoring and prediction. It also displays the emergency response management for disaster preparedness and reduction in China.
